Alene McCauley
Arlene Mary McCauley, 86, of Alabama passed away in the evening of Monday, Jan. 15, 2018 in Huntsville, Ala., where she resided in a nursing home.
She was born near Elma, Iowa on Sept. 6, 1931, the first child of Arthur Fountain and Irene Burri Fountain.
Arlene grew up around Cresco and West Union.
She graduated from Cresco High School.
Arlene married Norman McCauley on May 29, 1957 at Wartburg Chapel in Waverly.
Arlene then lived in West Union, and when Norman became Fayette County Sheriff, she took on the duties of managing many chores at the Fayette County Jail.
She led an active life in Northeast Iowa, participating in church activities, and enjoying Bridge Club. She enjoyed traveling during retirement.
Arlene moved to Huntsville, Ala., in 1998.
Arlene is survived by a brother, Robert Fountain; her son, Kelly (Christie Swords) McCauley; granddaughters Dale Kristine Rickard, Megan Marie McCauley, and Emma Kathleen Tuttle. She has three great-grandchildren, Lilah Clare Rickard, Sadie Elizabeth Rickard and Caleb Norman Rickard; and former daughter-in-law, Jona McCauley, Hunstville, Ala.
Arlene was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Norman, and by her sister, Dorothy Fountain Jensen.
Funeral services were held Monday, Jan. 22, 2018 at Burnham-Wood-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service, West Union. Rev. Adam Starrett was the officiant.
Burial followed at West Union Cemetery, West Union, Iowa.
