Christopher Jones

Christopher James Jones was born October 16, 1967, in Waverly to Leo James and Linda (Thompson) Jones of Hawkeye.

He was baptized and confirmed in the catholic church. He graduated from North Fayette High School in West Union in 1986.

Chris married Sharon Conerd on July 18, 1987, and the couple had three children. They later divorced.

He married Christine Heller on September 10, 2011.

Over the years Chris worked at the Turkey Plant in Postville, Beatrice in Fredericksburg, Starfleet in Indiana, Decorah Chevy, and recently at Atek in New Hampton.

Chris always loved the outdoors, whether it be working in the garden or riding his motorcycle. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends.

Chris died May 19, 2015, of a massive heart attack.

He is survived by his wife, Christine, of West Union; children, Samantha Jones (Aaron Lowe) of Decorah, Tim (Sammie) Jones of West Union, and Jacqueline Jones of Spokane, WA; his step-daughters, Ashley (Colter) Kirby and Bailey Potratz of West Union; his grandchildren, Travis, Talynn, Axl, Caydence and Hadley; his parents, Leo & Linda of Hawkeye; his siblings, Kimberly (Ken) Koester of Spokane, WA, Julie Jones of Hawkeye, and Andrew (Anessa) Jones of Hawkeye; nieces and nephews; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Russell, in infancy, and his grandparents.

A Celebration of Life was held at 10:30 am on Saturday, May 23, 2015 at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Sumner.

Burial followed in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Sumner.

A public visitation was held from 4-8 pm on Friday, May 22, 2015 at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Sumner with a rosary at 4 pm.

S.K. Rogers Funeral Home in Sumner was in charge of the arrangements.     22u22
