
Lois Luchsinger
Lois Yvonne (Yasulin) Luchsinger, 86, of Clermont, Iowa passed away August 27, 2014 at the Palmer Lutheran Health Center in West Union, Iowa surrounded by loved ones.
She was born on May 6, 1928 to Byron “Barney” and Ruby (Hader) Yauslin near Elkader, Iowa in Clayton County.
Lois spent her youth around the Elkader area attending the Kennedy Country School in Clayton County. After moving with the family to the Clermont, Iowa area, she attended the Clermont High School and remained a Clermont resident her entire life.
Lois was united in marriage on September 8, 1946 to Lester Fred Luchsinger at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. Three children were born to this union.
She was baptized and was a member of Saint Paul United Methodist Church in Elgin, Iowa. She was also a member of the United Methodist Women, as well as Clermont Ladies Aid and a 50+ year member of the American Legion Auxiliary in Clermont.
Lois was a homemaker that worked many years at the Elgin Canning Factory and the Clermont Bowling Pin Company.
She enjoyed family gatherings where she could share her great cooking ability to all. Lois loved the outdoors, to go mushroom hunting, berry picking and even trapping animals in her younger days. She enjoyed traveling at every opportunity saying, “my bag is always packed.” She mostly enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, they always made her very proud. Lois always had a smile on her face for everyone she would meet.
After Lester passed away in 1978, Lois met Bob Burrow from Clermont, Iowa who she shared the rest of her life with.
Survivors include her children, Linda (Donald) Bright of West Union, Leslie “Scott” (Carolyn) Luchsinger of Fayette and Lolita Luchsinger of Mason City; her grandchildren, Devin (Laura) Bright of Fox River Grove, Illinois, Alesha (Greg) Wettleson of Gunder, Jonathan (Danielle) Luchsinger of West Union and David (Danielle) Luchsinger of Waverly, Iowa; great-grandchildren, Lindsay, Abigail and Jared Bright, Mariah, Jodie and Ryan Wettleson, Danica Luchsinger and Steven Kress; her special friend, Bob Burrow; her siblings Dorothy Williams, John Yauslin, Leslie (Janice) Yauslin, Roger (Linda) Yauslin and Richard (Marlene) Yauslin.
She will also be missed my many nieces and nephews, neighbors and friends.
Lois is preceded in death by her husband, Lester; her parents, Byron “Barney” and Ruby Yauslin; her brother and sister, Donald and Betty; sisters-in-law, Janet and Janice Yauslin; brothers-in-law, Alfred Boleyn, Hubert Williams, Donald Gordon and Leonard Olson.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Lois’ honor can be given to the family.
Visitation was held on Friday, August 29, 2014 from 4-7 pm at Schutte-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Clermont, Iowa and one hour before services at the funeral home on Saturday.
Funeral Services were held at 11 am on Saturday, August 30, 2014 at Schutte-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Clermont, Iowa.
Burial followed at the Elgin Cemetery, Elgin, Iowa.
