Arlene Alley

Arlene Alley, 95, of Vinton and formerly of Hawkeye, died Saturday, February 23, 2019, at the Vinton Lutheran Home. 

 

  Funeral services were held at 5:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 26, 2019, at the United Methodist Church in Hawkeye with Mona Christie, Lay Servant, officiating. Visitation will precede the service at the church on Tuesday beginning at 3:00 p.m. Friends and family were invited to join in a meal following the service.  Inurnment will be held at Dunham Grove Cemetery, rural Randalia, at a later date.   Arlene, daughter of Fred and Ethel (Burnside) Howe was born May 17, 1923, in Eden Township, Fayette County. On May 14, 1941, she was united in marriage to William (Hynges) Alley in Missouri. Arlene was a homemaker for many years prior to working in the kitchen at the Good Samaritan Society in West Union and was a local caretaker for several residents of Hawkeye. She was a long-time active member of the United Methodist Church in Hawkeye. Arlene enjoyed gardening, sewing, reading, baking, genealogy, and traveling.

  Arlene is survived by her children, Ernest (Donna) Alley of Hawkeye, Lois Mulvaney of Vinton, and David (Marlene Short) Alley of Hawkeye; eight grandchildren, Curt Moser, Cyle (Polly) Moser, Chad (Candy) Moser, Michele (Brian) Stainbrook, Dana Mulvaney, Sherry (Bobby) Armstrong, Cody Alley, and Ramsey Alley; sixteen great-grandchildren; and one sister, Kathleen Joyce Fish of Kansas.

In addition to her parents, her husband, William in 1982; daughter, Doris in 1994; and eight siblings preceded her in death.
