Peter J. Greco, 90, of rural Maynard, Iowa died on Tuesday evening, January 9, 2018 at Covenant Medical Center in Waterloo.

Mass of Christian Burial:  10:30 A.M. Saturday, January 13, 2018 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Oelwein, with Rev. Jerry F. Kopacek officiating.

Visitation:  3:00 to 7:00 P.M. on Friday and from 9:00 to 10:00 A.M. on Saturday at the Jamison-Schmitz Funeral Home in Oelwein.

Military Service:  6:00 P.M. on Friday at the funeral home.

Scripture Service:  6:30 P.M. Friday at the funeral home.

Interment:  Woodlawn Cemetery, Oelwein, Iowa.

A Memorial Fund has been established for Sacred Heart Catholic Church Choir.

Peter John Greco was born on November 22, 1927 in Oelwein, Iowa the son of Dominic Albert & Mary (Napoli) Greco.  Peter graduated from Sacred Heart High School in Oelwein and then from Upper Iowa University in Fayette with a degree in education.  Peter was united in marriage to Mary Lou Taylor on August 17, 1957 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Oelwein.  Peter proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.  He taught in Oelwein, worked for the Chicago Great Western & Chicago Northwestern Railroads and farmed at rural Maynard where he had lived for the past 60 years.    

Peter was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church where he sang in the church choir for the past 78 years.  He enjoyed dancing, singing, playing the piano and spending time with family and friends.  He especially enjoyed sharing candy and pocket flashlights to light up the lives of his family and friends.

Peter is survived by;

Special Niece: Marguerite Miner;

2 Special Nephews:  Lawrence Greco & Steven Greco and

Many loving Nieces, Nephews & Cousins.

Peter was preceded in death by his parents, wife: Mary Lou on January 14, 2014, 3 brothers:  Leo Greco, Lou Greco & John Greco and 3 sisters:  Arlene Greco, Theresa Miner & Rose Ratchford.
